Historically, I’m not a smoothie lover. They make me cold, I prefer to chew my food, cleaning a blender is hard, etc.
BUT, I want to like them because they are such a convenient, nutrient-packed meal that also usually looks pretty.

The real hero that gave me the motivation to give smoothies another try was HOMEMADE GRANOLA. Homemade granola is a game changer. Chocolate chips are game changer number two. They bring the crunch factor, which is what I miss when I drink a smoothie.
Another non-negotiable for the perfect consistency smoothie is frozen banana. If you want to be able to eat the smoothie bowl rather than drink it, you need a frozen banana. One morning I forgot and only was able to freeze my banana for 30 minutes and it was NOT ENOUGH. Overnight is mandatory.

So what exactly do I put in my smoothie bowl?
Ingredients
- 1 frozen banana
- A few ice cubs
- 4 ounces almond milk
- 1 scoop protein powder
- 1 big handful spinach
- 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup granola & a few chocolate chips on topping
If you are alarmed by the greenness of this smoothie, don’t worry! I promise you can’t even taste the spinach.
The homemade granola recipe I use is in my upcoming recipe eBook which launches on May 1st, so send me an email to hellostrength1@gmail.com or comment below if you want to get on the pre-sale list!
